Industrial Crush Cut Blades

What are crush-cut blades?

Crush-cut blades are a tool that uses force to cut the material rather than entirely cutting through it. The term "crush-cut" comes from the fact that these blades are designed to crush the material they are cutting rather than simply slicing through it. It is often used with thick materials that are too thick or hard to cut with other blades. They can cut various materials such as paper, cardboard, plastic, rubber, and foam.

We offer various crush-cut blades, including circular, straight, curved, and custom-shaped blades. Crush-cut blades are made from various materials, including carbon steel, stainless steel, and carbide.

Baucor manufactures and supplies both precision standard and custom size crush cut knives and blades for most application. Our crush cut knives and blades are exceptionally made from quality ground hardened tool steels and stainless steel as well as carbide.

Advantages of using crush-cut blades

There are many advantages of using crush-cut blades:

  • Clean cuts:
Crush-cut blades do not entirely cut through the material, meaning they do not create burrs or rough edges on the cut material. It is essential in applications that require a smooth, clean cut, such as packaging or the food industry.

  • Efficiency:
Crush-cut blades can cut through materials that are too thick or hard to cut with traditional cutting tools.

  • Versatility:
Crush-cut blades can be used to cut through metal, concrete, stone, and various other materials.

How are crush-cut blades manufactured?

  • Cutting:
Manufacturing a crush-cut blade begins with cutting the desired shape from a metal sheet using a CNC machine.

  • Heating:
After the desired shape has been achieved, the blade is heat treated to make it more rigid using heat treatment processes. Heat treatment consists of heating the blade and cooling it rapidly

  • Sharpening:
Once the blade has been heat-treated, it must be sharpened to remove any imperfections, and it undergoes a grinding process to refine the blade's edge and make it even sharper.

  • Coating:
The blade tips can be coated to improve their resistance to wear or corrosion. The most used materials for coating are chromium or tungsten.
